SOC4Academia Toolbox

SOC4Academia Toolbox is a collection of practical materials and resources supporting the development and operation of Security Operations Centres (SOCs) in academic institutions.

The Toolbox was developed within the SOCCER project – Developing and deploving SOC capabilities for the academic sector – a teamwork of Universities and ROTs in the CEE region – with the aim of supporting universities and research organisations in strengthening their cybersecurity capabilities and developing SOC functions.

The publication provides practical knowledge, recommendations and resources covering different aspects of SOC development and operation, including organisational, technical and operational aspects of cybersecurity.

The Toolbox is available as a PDF publication and as an online version. It is intended for cybersecurity professionals, SOC teams, IT and security staff, and other organisations interested in developing or improving SOC capabilities in the academic sector. A substantial part of the Toolbox is the DFIR Guide, which provides practical guidance on Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR). It covers key aspects of incident response and digital forensics, including incident handling, investigation and analysis, collection and preservation of digital evidence, forensic analysis, and activities supporting the identification and understanding of cybersecurity incidents. The Guide is intended to support SOC and incident response teams in developing practical DFIR capabilities. Teamwork of the SOCCER Consortium Partners, editing by Pavol Sokol.
